The American Traffic Academy, Inc.® was created to meet the urgent demand to teach life saving car control skills to motorist of all ages with emphasis on reaching new and young drivers 16-25 years old.

The American Traffic Academy is owned and operated by 22 year auto racing and high performance driving school industry veteran, Robert Prevost, the company’s Founder & CEO. Robert worked for the Skip Barber Racing School from 1988 to 1996 as their Director of Corporate Sales. He then left to launch RacingSchools.com, the world’s leading auto racing and high performance driving school sales and information website ( www.RacingSchools.com ). In 2005, he acquired the Derek Daly Academy (at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway) and transformed it into the American Racing Academy to better reflect the very special nature of the revitalized driving school that featured the use of authentic Formula One race cars, the only such driving experience available in the country at the time.
In 2007, Prevost teamed up with the Chief Judge of the Henderson Municipal Court, Judge Diana Hampton, to design an alternative sentencing program that would require all young traffic offenders in the City of Henderson to attend a half day, behind the wheel car control and collision avoidance driving school program in lieu of the typical traffic fine. The city of Boulder City soon embraced the same program. More municipal courts are set to adopt the American Traffic Academy’s Advanced Driver Education clinics in the coming months.
The American Traffic Academy now offer the most affordable and effective Advanced Interactive Driver Education® clinics in North America…right here in Las Vegas.
All our instructors are experienced car control specialists and excellent all around facilitators. Some are current and retired local law enforcement officers.

Over the years, well meaning government agencies, advocacy groups, industry experts, auto manufacturers and insurers have been offering motorists, young and old, various solutions to deal with the often catastrophic and life changing impact of car crashes on occupants and pedestrians. These include:
Some have recommended increasing the minimum age at which someone could secure a drivers license (that would create bigger problems on our roads). While these well intended groups debate which of their methods could make the next big difference, nothing is being done to make our roads safer from inexperienced and just plain bad drivers.

DMV Accredited Driving Schools that offer Driver's Ed programs are not required by many States, including Nevada, to provide new drivers with any hands-on driving time. That's a real concern especially for young new drivers. Students may at their discretion, purchase basic street driving sessions in addition to the classroom curriculum but advanced car control skills are not taught. Our program is designed to complement the best of all the teaching methods currently available to drivers seeking to improve their accident survival skills.
"Traffic Safety Schools" used by Municipal Governments to process traffic offenders do not incorporate any actual hands-on driving time either. Classroom only programs, at any level, offer no opportunity to teach students ANY actual life saving collision avoidance skills.

Offering programs that make a meaningful impact on students’ long term future behavior behind the wheel.
Our car control clinic is designed to complement the best of all the teaching methods currently available to drivers seeking to improve their accident survival skills. We believe that all motorists should be required to attend our car control clinics and,
all traffic law offenders should only be given three options:
The Academy’s A.I.D.E. program is designed to affordably and efficiently teach millions of everyday drivers right now, the life saving skills to make them better safer drivers. Using this method we can help reduce the incidence of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries in our communities with special attention paid to new drivers, teenagers and young adults.
We realize that our best opportunity to reach the greatest number of drivers in the least amount of time is to work hand-in-hand with the courts and the professional driving school operators. We are also committed to changing the nature of “Traffic Safety Schools” as they exist today to make them much more effective (while remaining inexpensive) by incorporating advanced accident survival driving exercises as part of the required curriculum content.
